Week-11

In 2015 Chinese media service Xinhua announced that Chinese government set police in giant internet companies for security reasons. There was an audition from other companies also about improving internet precautions, but no one really said anything about embedding police in those Companies. Alibaba, Sina Weibo, Baidu and many others issued a statement " We work with Chinese authorities to combat illegal and criminal activities on the internet. It is our priority to maintain the reliability and security of our platforms to protect our customers. ".

People may wonder what is the reason for all of that? Unfortunately It is impossible to say directly, but chinese population easily fell victim to cyber attacks, scams, Internet fishing etc. Due to aforementioned reason Government tried to stabilize social security in the expense of privacy. Do you agree that, security without privacy is not security at all?

Of course many people contradict "the official line". Xiao Qiang founder of the China Digital Times says "This is primarily a political censorship move", but he also admits that they also concern about security and hackers. Government described their activity as an establishing online police presence that reminds people Internet is also subject of The Law. In my opinion, It is just an act to preserve their communist leadership without any threat.

The other problem that online world faces today is privacy. Online privacy makes people stressful. We all heard about E-commerce, E-banking and many other. Well "Security and Comfort disbalance each other" . No one likes to stand in long queues or spend time going in Departments with paper documents, so they prefer doing it online. Myself also prefer, doing things faster and easier, but turns out it may be too risky. E-"organizations" open new path for "burglars" to dig the information and steal it. In these, all Electronic companies are in "stalemate". They want user to provide more information for marketing purposes, while consumer prefers not to share much. There are more people watching us than we really think. Very recently Washington Post story revealed that 11 pharmaceutical companies including Pfizer track users, to how many times did they click on their websites. People point to ads all the time but it is just tip of an iceberg.

Paradox in everything people cause is misusing the things which were created. Let's remember purpose of the Net. It was open research tool, it's purpose was not privacy and security. We misuse Internet also, Ad companies see it as money machine. Marketing and Commercials are another biggest problems nowadays. Facebook, which claims to be "Angel" when it comes to selling data, they always say it was leak. Let's recall October 15, 1999, when 20 years old Amy Boyer was killed after she was tracked in the internet. The killer bought security number online for 45$ and completed suicide.

Internet knows more about us and many youngsters don't care about it. Little kids have Facebook, and many other social platforms. They just click no, yes buttons in order to skip or visit some website, while not knowing what they clicked. Authorities will say that here we provide privacy policy and you can read, but how many of us read it? Is it our problem? Do you sell your data when you go in Supermarket? Why is websites designed that way?

Another problem I experienced myself happened in Estonia. Well as everyone I also visit hypermarket "Rimi", or "Prisma", or "Maxima" and buy products. I use Visa Card and very often I just bought Lemon Tea Brand of Lipton or some special chocolate and in that day or tomorrow I saw exactly the same product I purchased yesterday in the Facebook Ad or on Youtube or on Instagram.
